The endothelium plays a critical role in regulating vascular tone and blood pressure. Its dysfunction is the earliest sign of vascular ageing, leading to stiff arteries, hypertension, and atherosclerosis. Yet, current assessments require specialized ultrasound equipment, skilled operators, and complex procedures—making routine screening impractical.
The ERA Device is a fully automated, non-invasive solution uses dual pulse sensors to measure brachial local PWV and continuously track vascular tone in response to reactive hyperemia—providing a reliable quantification of endothelial function. Designed in a wearable form factor, it also integrates ambulatory monitoring of blood pressure and vascular tone, making endothelial function assessment practical for routine clinical use.
A prototype has already been tested on 100 healthy volunteers, proving greater sensitivity and repeatability than conventional ultrasound-based FMD tests. Clinical validation is set for next year.
